If you use Google Calendar on your phone or your website, it is possible to connect it to your FishingBooker calendar to get automatic updates and avoid double bookings.
How to set it up?
To connect your Google Calendar with FishingBooker, follow these steps:
- Go to your Calendar.
- If you are on the phone, click the Settings icon. If you are on the computer, just skip this step.
- Select Sync with Google Calendar.
- Click on Continue with Google. Make sure to select all permission boxes to allow us access to your calendar, and always mark your Google events as “busy” if you want FishingBooker to block the calendar automatically.
After you successfully authorize with Google, you will have 2 options: import and export. You can activate either one or both of them, depending on if you need one-way or two-way communication with your calendars.
To have events on Google update your availability on the FishingBooker, you should use the Import. If you have multiple listings, here you will have the option to choose which of them will be affected by the Google events. You can select more than one.
Also, you have the option to select which trips will be blocked by external events:
- When they overlap any part of the trip (default)
- Only when they overlap with the entire trip
To have your FishingBooker bookings automatically appear on your Google Calendar whenever they are confirmed, you should use the Export. Again, you have the option to choose the listings that will get exported.
To ensure a 2-way sync with other channels, be sure to activate both export and import.
How do I stop the sync?
At any moment, you can come back to this page by following these steps:
- Go to your Calendar.
- If you are on the phone, click the Settings icon. If you are on the computer, just skip this step.
- Select Sync with Google Calendar
Then you can choose Import or Export, and turn it off for all the listings.
If you want to completely revoke FishingBooker's permissions for accessing your Google Calendar, you can click on the “Disconnect” button. Note that in this case all Google events and the related data will be removed from the FishingBooker.
Can Google Calendar sync with multiple listings?
Yes. All published listings will be available both in the Import and in the Export.
Can FishingBooker sync with multiple Google Accounts?
With this approach, currently, you can only connect one Google Calendar. However, if you need more, you can still use our iCal sync option, and add as many iCal integrations as you need. Read about it here.
How do I unblock a day that's blocked by Calendar Sync?
To unblock a day (or a trip) that is blocked by an event from Google, you will have to go to your Google Calendar and make changes to the original event. You will have to either delete the event, or change it from “busy” to “free”. The changes will be reflected with the next sync.
How often do events get synchronized?
Events get synchronized every hour. Also, to make sure that you won't get double-booked, the sync also gets triggered when a customer attempts to start the checkout.
How does Google Calendar Import work with Shared trips?
Calendar Import does not take into account the available seats left. It just blocks the entire time slot. We don’t advise using Calendar Sync with listings with shared trips.
